Listening Sessions:  Fr. Dan and Fr. George have started Listening Sessions.  Others will follow.  See the schedule below.  Call a host if you are interested in attending or scheduling one of your own.  A few dates are available.  The agenda is simple: you talk; we listen!  We have four questions to guide our listening: 1. What do I think is being done well in the Parish?  2. What would you think needs strengthening/improvement in the Parish?  3. What needs should be addressed that are not being met in the Parish?  4. As we work together toward greater collaboration between the two Parishes, what do you think we can do better together than apart?  We will also invite people to consider the Arise program.  Would you be willing to be a host, a small group facilitator and willing to invite a Catholic friend or relative who no longer attends church?  (Because Fr. George has been at St. Margaret’s for the past 12 years, and in order to encourage greater “freedom of speech,” he will not be present at Sessions held at the homes of St. Margaret Parishioners.)

Registrations:  If you have not already done so, there is still time to register your child(ren) for Religious Education.  Registrations are being accepted by mail and by dropping off the registration at the rectory.  Also, this year, for your convenience, we will be at the church hall on Tuesday, August 19, from 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. to receive your registrations.  A late fee of $25 will be applied to any registrations received after August 25.

If you child will be attending a Catholic school this year and not enrolling in our program, please call to let us know.  This will help us greatly in our planning.

If you are NEW to the parish, or have a child entering grade 1 in September, please come to the rectory to pick up the forms, weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  If your child was not baptized here at Blessed Sacrament, please bring your child’s baptism record with you when you come to register.

Confirmation Preparation:  10th graders attending Catholic high schools must register for the religious education program at the parish for Confirmation in the spring of 2009.

Help Wanted:  As the beginning of our religious education classes approaches, we are in need of many volunteers.  If you are a confirmed, practicing Catholic and would like to be a part of a very fulfilling ministry opening the minds and hearts of our children to the wonders of our Lord, please consider joining us.  Our particular need at this time is for teachers in Grades 4, 5, 6, 8 and Confirmation Prep.  (Catechists must be 17 years of age.)  We are also in need of hall monitors and adult helpers at the high school on Sunday mornings.  All volunteers must have a CORI check and attend a three-hour VIRTUS training session as mandated by the Archdiocese.

If you have any questions, or would like more information  on any of the above, please call Donna Zinna at 781-231-3699.

ARISE Together in Christ:  Enjoy yourself this Summer—Renew your spirit this Fall!:  As you pack your bags and head out to your summer destinations, the ARISE Together in Christ Parish Planning Team wishes you a peaceful and relaxing summer season.  While you are soaking up the summer sun and fun, we will be busy planning our parish’s first season of the new spiritual renewal process that is sweeping the Archdiocese of Boston—Arise Together in Christ.  When you get back, look for more details on how you can get involved in this process that offers the opportunity for new friendships, stronger faith, and a deeper relationship with God through prayer and the Scriptures in a small-group setting.  Sign-up Weekend is September 13 and 14, 2008.  For the journey, please take an ARISE prayer bookmark which can be found at the entrances to the Church.

Special Needs Barbecue:  The special needs barbecue was a big success, and, by all the smiles, a lot of fun.  Thank you to all our special friends for accepting our invitation.  Thank you to the committee for all your hard work.  Without you this great event could not happen.  Thank you, Lauraine.

Operation Troop Support:  This week we will be collecting flip flops, soaps, shower wash, razors and toiletry items for our troops.  As always, your support is appreciated, and any letter of encouragement you wish to send to our troops will be most appreciated.  The collection bins are located at the doors of the church to receive your donations.  Thank you.

Details can be found at northregionbicentennial.org.

Last week’s Collection was $4,574 with 201 envelopes received.  $2,448 was collected for the Renovation Fund.  An additional $1,000 was received from mail-in contributions.  Thank you.

Saint Vincent de Paul Society:  Vacation time is here, and we hope everyone has a healthy and enjoyable summer.  For many within the parameters of our parish, there is no vacation, the bills for necessities keep rolling in, and the families need to eat every day.  Utility companies continue to shut down services when bills get to a certain level, food bills are at an all time high, and some impatient landlords are forcing our brothers, sisters, and their children out of their homes literally into the streets.  We are able to help in a number of ways, especially by directing needy families to the agencies that can provide long term help, but the immediate, first-line of help usually comes from us.  And that is accomplished through your generosity at our little boxes as you leave the church.  Knowing the price of fuel this winter will probably be higher than the $4.25 per gallon we are paying now; we will be unable to give much assistance unless you help us.  We ask you to please continue to remember the needy within our parish as you leave the church today.  Thank you and May God bless you for “HELPING US TO HELP THEM”

Catholic Home Missions:  Next Sunday, our parish will be taking up a collection for the Catholic Home Missions Appeal.  This Appeal supports missions here in the United States.    The Catholic Home Missions Appeal offers Catholics across our country a wonderful opportunity to help fellow Catholics practice their faith in such rugged areas as Alaska, Appalachia, the Deep South, the Rock Mountain states, the Southwest, Puerto Rico and island dioceses in the Pacific and in the Caribbean.  This Appeal is a practical way for our parish to share its faith and resources with the mission church here at home.  Please give generously to assist fellow Catholics here in America.

He said, "Come." Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw how strong the wind was he became frightened; and, beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught Peter, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" - Mt 14:29-31
